Trauma and Its Treatment in People and Dogs
Monday, September 15, 2014

We all know the value of the right dog for someone who has experienced a serious or severe trauma. But what about dogs? Can dogs be traumatized and suffer from PTSD, or something close to it? I will argue that they can, and that comparing the psychological and physiological responses of traumatized dogs to that of people is helpful for members of both species. The more we understand about the basic biology of trauma and its treatment across species, the better we can help each other heal.
