Yup, I finally did it. I’d love to hear from you on my Facebook page; it all feels very new and strange. Does it sound like I’ve been in a cave for five years? Ah well, I’m catching up slowly. I’m still feeling my way through this, so bear with me. Sigh. So far, it’s sort of fun.
I’m keeping this short today, it’s been a busy, busy week, with, among lots else, new lectures to prepare on animal cognition for the UW class, work on the “rescue” booklet, a speech at the Middleton Library and lots of planning for seminars to come.
MEANWHILE, back on the farm: Still cold and snow/ice covered, Willie still lame on his left front. We’ll be at the vet specialist next week for sure, and I’m beginning to brace myself for the very real possibility of surgery. I’ll keep you posted.
Here’s Hans Solo from this morning, Snicker’s singleton lamb. He’s growing up beautifully, wish he was a ewe lamb so I could keep him!
Marguerite says
What a beautifully symmetrical face Han has! Perhaps he could find a home as a pet or join one of those flocks that border collie owners rent when they don’t have sheep or their own.
Nice to see you on Facebook, too. I liked you anyway, but now I can officially “Like” you. 🙂
Debby says
Hans Solo has a beautiful face!
I have mixed feelings about Facebook. No matter what the assurances, it seems like giving up a lot of privacy and I know that those fears according to recent magazine features mark me as a person of a certain age. But there you have it. Good luck with Facebook, maybe I’ll have to rethink my position.
The Learning Vet says
Congrats on joining the world of Facebook! Is Twitter next? Sure hope Willie checks out ok–sending positive thoughts!
Dee says
I “liked” you on Facebook, only because “love” isn’t an option. Hope Willie is okay. Hans Solo is precious.
I don’t know how you do it all, but I’m glad you do… for very selfish reasons. Love your books and this blog. Now I get to read you on Facebook, too. Sweet.

Trisha,
Love the photo of Hans Solo. And good luck with Will – I’ve been through major leg surgery twice with one of my girls, and I know it is no picnic – just the worry alone is stressful. So when I say try not to worry and don’t anticipate trouble, I know it probably isn’t possible! My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Debby – I am concerned about loss of privacy on Facebook as well – and I am not “of a certain age”. Some of us are just naturally more suspicious than others!
Frances says
We must be of a similar age, Debbie, because I feel exactly the same! I shall have to look at it again…
I hope all goes better for Willie than you fear, Trisha, and that either way he makes a quick recovery. Better to be on limited exercise now than when Spring and Summer are tempting you out over the hills and far away, I suppose.
Holly says
I hope you won’t convert from your blog, open to all, to Facebook, which requires an account. For those of us who chose not to use Facebook, it is sad to see so many things migrating to that format. (I had a very bad experience with a Facebook hijacking which sent very offensive things to my “friends” and cancelled my account for good.)
Robin McHale Ehn says
Oh Trisha, that lamb is the cutest thing! He should be weathered and turned into a pet! If I had the set up and were closer, I’d take him in a heart beat!
trisha says
Absolutely nothing to worry about Holly, Facebook is a completely different entity than my Blog. I’ll still be writing here for who knows how much longer…
Heidi Meinzer says
Welcome to Facebook, Trisha! It took me a long time to get the nerve up to join Facebook, and I use it primarily for marketing and dog training contacts only. It’s an outlet to be a tad more personal than my blog, but not so personal that I advertise my every movement or my personal and family exploits. I do have a Twitter account, too, but for the life of me I can’t really figure out all of the hubub about Twitter.
Hans is precious. Sending all the best vibes for you and Will.
Kelly says
So glad to see you on Facebook Trisha! Just one more place for me to follow your blog posts, since I don’t always get online to check the blog, but I’m always on FB, thanks to my smart phone. I know that FB isn’t for everybody, but for many, it’s the main site they visit.
Karissa says
As a Facebook addict, I thank you for setting up an “official” page where I could “like” you there. 🙂 Please be sure to post a link to your blog updates, as I hate it when I get caught up in things and don’t find your new posts until a few days later.
I think Facebook is great for so many things. Some of us (like myself….) do spend so much time there, but it’s such a valuable resource for keeping up with friends and family that I can’t see on a regular basis.
For example, my baby dog had her first agility trial this weekend, but at an “away” trial that most of my friends couldn’t make. Through the wonders of Facebook and YouTube, they got to share in her experience, too.
Hoping the best for Willie!

I’m all about slinging kibble. Think I learned it from you on the radio. I have all wood floors so it’s a no-brainer. When my lad was on straight kibble (a whole 1/3 cup of tiny stuff) that is how it was served. The hassle is when a piece goes under furniture. He finds it eventually and alerts me with one sharp bark. And he won’t give up on it until I get down on the floor and retrieve it. That one under the washing machine .. It’s constant aggravation for both of us.

Lovely picture of Hans Solo 🙂 beautiful eyes, beautiful colors 🙂 I hope Willie will get better soon. It might be a matter of time and patience – rest can help a lot.

What a handsome lamb! I’ll check you out on Facebook, Trisha.
