I’m taking the weekend off, it being Labor Day and all. Here are a few photos of the WWSDA Midwest Championship Sheepdog Competition we just got back from. (More on that next week!)
Skip and Maggie loved doing their volunteer job of picking up sheep after the ProNovice Runs. Here’s Maggie waiting for this run to be completed.
Skip is hanging out with another volunteer, the good dog Faith and her human, Jennifer. We worked for 5.5 hours, but alternated between three dogs, so it went very well. Maggie, pushing 9 years old, was pretty tuckered that night however.
See you next week!

My daughter and I drove to Hudson from Sun Prairie this weekend just to see this amazing event. It was better than I imagined. We came on Sunday, the weather was perfect, the setting was like something out of a painting and we watched dogs herd sheep all day. If I did nothing else in my life I would be content after that day. I was sorry we didn’t get to see Skip or Maggie out there, but my heart swelled with pride when Polly closed that gate with no time to spare. I’m so happy I went!

Cydney, I’m so happy you had such a great time! It’s impossible to exaggerate how beautiful it is there, isn’t it? And Polly’s run?! (Polly is somewhere over 85 and has some other major physical challenges.) Amazing. There were some wet eyes under the tent for sure. If you can, come to the Double Lift Championship on Monday, it’s even more astounding!

When I worked (am retired now – yippee!) my co workers would ask me what I did over the weekend. They could never understand how I could be out in a field all day watching dogs and sheep. What a relaxing magical time they missed.

What a wonderful event. Thanks Tricia for your commentary on Monday. You being so much knowledge, and also a great sense of humor. This was my second time there, and I plan to continue going in the future. Everyone was so kind, and willing to answer my questions. It is truly a diamond in the rough.
